About Bea

Walking With You Every Step Of The Way

My name is Bea, and I am an integrative counsellor, registered with the BACP, and a registered nurse with the NMC. Alongside my counselling practice, I specialise in supporting people living with chronic pain, chronic health conditions and emotional distress.

Being registered with both the NMC and the BACP means I am committed to working within their professional codes of ethics and standards, continually updating my knowledge and ensuring my practice is evidence-informed, safe and ethical.

I am also trained in mindfulness and nature connection facilitation, allowing me to offer a range of support tailored to your individual needs. Whether you're looking for counselling, specialist chronic pain counselling, one-to-one chronic pain support or the connection and shared experience of my nature-based chronic pain workshops, we'll work together to find the approach that feels right for you.

I am based in Newquay and St Austell, offering face-to-face, online and telephone counselling.

An Integrative, Person-Centred Approach

At the heart of my work is a person-centred approach. I believe that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to offer a safe, compassionate and accepting relationship where you can explore your experiences at your own pace, reconnect with your authentic self and discover your own capacity for growth and change.

As an integrative counsellor, I also recognise that there is no single approach that is right for every person or every situation. We are all unique, with our own experiences, strengths and challenges, so therapy should never be one-size-fits-all. While my work is always grounded in person-centred therapy, I can also thoughtfully draw upon other evidence-informed approaches where they may support your journey. Equally, if you would prefer a purely person-centred approach, we can work in that way too. Together, we'll find an approach that feels right for you, always tailoring our work to your individual needs, preferences and circumstances.

My background in nursing, together with my knowledge of chronic pain, trauma, neuroscience, Polyvagal Theory, mindfulness and nature connection, helps me to see the wider picture of your experiences. These approaches never replace the person-centred relationship; they simply deepen my understanding while always allowing you to lead the direction of our work together.

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years as a nurse, supporting people through some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. My experience includes emergency care, neurorehabilitation, brain injury, dementia, palliative care and mental health. Alongside my professional life, I am also a wife and mother of four, giving me a personal understanding of the joys, challenges and complexities that family life can bring.

Alongside my professional training, I have studied pain science and completed the 10 Footsteps to Living Well with Pain programme. I have a genuine passion for learning and continue to deepen my understanding of neuroscience, Polyvagal Theory and psychoneuroendocrinology (PNE). Together with my lived experience, these areas inform my understanding of the mind-body connection while always remaining in service of the therapeutic relationship, never leading it.

If you are living with chronic pain, fibromyalgia, persistent health conditions or the effects of trauma, you will be met by someone who understands the complexity of living in a body that doesn't always feel safe or predictable.

Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, chronic illness, chronic pain, burnout, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties or the lasting effects of emotional abuse, you don't have to face it alone. I believe that every person has an innate capacity for healing and growth, and I would be honoured to walk alongside you as you discover yours.

Outside of work, you'll usually find me swimming in the sea or any water I can get myself into, spending time with my family and friends mostly in nature, practising mindfulness, tending to my vegetable garden or reading about psychology and neuroscience. Caring for my own wellbeing helps me stay grounded, present and able to offer the best of myself to the people I work with.
